President Buhari’s disposition to herdsmen killings is disturbing – Joi John

Our African leaders give the impression they want to emulate governance in the western world but when we need them to take a stand, they fumble. These random killings in Nigeria have gone on for too long and I find it disturbing that the Buhari administration seems to be handling the matter with kid gloves. The approach and response of a leader in time of a disaster or security crisis says a lot.

Let me take you down memory lane to August 2005 when Hurricane Katrina struck th

e United States. Former President George W. Bush was heavily criticized for his delayed visit to the Gulf Coast. He was on vacation at the time and the media roasted him for isolating himself. When he eventually visited, he muted all his critics with the empathy he showed the victims.

$1BN to fight Boko Haram? Seriously??? – Joi John

So the Federal Government will use $1bn to fight Boko Haram. All our 36 Governors in Nigeria approved the withdrawal of the $1 billion from the Excess Crude Account by the federal government to fight the insurgency. $1 solid BILLION in USD. What manner of leaders do we have in this country?

I thought we were told that Boko Haram was technically defeated? I’m curious to know if this battle is now spiritual warfare that the common eye can not see. $1bn to do what for crying out loud? READ MORE

VOX POPULI – Dear APC, how difficult is it hold your own convention? – Joi John

It’s amusing reading APC members commenting on the just concluded PDP National convention. Why bother with what PDP is doing when your party leadership can’t get themselves organized to hold a convention?

Recently, the All Progressives Congress (APC) announced that they had postponed mid-term national convention until the first quarter of 2018. They have been postponing the conduct of their convention since their NEC meeting back in March 24th, 2016 where, it was resolved that the party’s constitution should be amended. Since then, it has been story after story.  Why is a ruling party finding it cumbersome to hold a convention?
