I am aware that this is breaking with the conventional wisdom. I am conscious that this is a rebuke of tradition. I am not oblivious to the fact that it is against the norm. I am not unaware that this is not in tune with the mainstream. I am aware some would loath me for it. Some would deride me. Others would call me names. Those who really never liked my guts, would have this reinforced it for them. But those who have the objective ability to see things the way they are and are able to call them as exactly as they should, would see some sense in this.

I have been thinking about COVID-19 in Nigeria ….

I am not sure this shutting down the Nigerian national economy will end up being the best approach. It may end up being a very bad idea.

Our Nation has over 100 million people living on less than a dollar a day. They have had no income now for two weeks now. They are getting restless. And I can’t blame them. The so called palliatives are not getting to the Nigerian poor people.

The distinguished Senator Rose Okoji Oko representing Cross River North Federal Constituency has died. Born on the 27th of September 1956, Senator Oko was a former Commissioner for Education and Member of the Federal House of Representatives from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP),representing Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s 7th class of the National Assembly.

CORONAVIRUS: Support materials from Jack Ma to Africa arrive Ethiopia ; PM Ahmed to cordinate distribution.

Ethiopia has publicly acknowledged receipt of the support materials from the Jack Ma foundation. This comes days after President Paul Kagame of Rwanda thanked Ma for sending relief items their way.

Taking to social media, Ethiopian prime minister Abiy Ahmed wrote: “Thank you @JackMa & the @AlibabaGroup for sending the first wave of #COVID-19 prevention materials. Support includes 1.1million testing kits,6million masks & 60,000 protective suits to be distributed throughout Africa. Distribution to other countries will begin as of tomorrow”.
