Oldest living U.S Veteran, Richard Overton dies at age 112

Richard Overton, the oldest living U.S. veteran who served in the Army during World War II, has passed away on Thursday at 112.

In 2013, he met President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden at the White House. That year, the Austin City Council proclaimed the veteran’s birthday to be “Richard A. Overton Day.” Council members passed a resolution to give Hamilton Avenue — the street Overton lived on — the honorary street name, Richard Overton Avenue.
